Welcome to the Wool Shed

The Wool Shed - not just a warehouse in cyberspace but a real wool shop, trading since the early 1980s.

[And now we have made UK orders post free which makes the online shop more like the real one. Click on the panel on the top right for details.]

Our New design in Art - Art Nouveau!

Our own Scottish yarns continue to do well. Albayarn, the 4ply Shetland has been around for some time now and we have quite a few of our own designs using it. New colours are arriving now and we will add them to the colour palette soon.
Flying Flock is a DK Shetland and Hebridean blend and as yet we haven't had the time to put new designs using it on the site - but we are working on them. It is a standard DK so can be used in any DK pattern. The 2009 shearing is being spun now and will be on site early in the new year.

For details of our Scottish yarns and more of our designs using them, click on the pictures below

Our online shop is being updated all the time. We have a different Featured yarn each month with a 10% discount and a Sale basket of items with 20% off. Please come back regularly so you don't miss out! If you register with us, this will entitle you to advance notice of workshops and loyalty schemes. We require only minimal information and it will make purchasing from our site extremely quick and easy.

We do respond to queries by return so if you don't get a reply (and it isn't in your junk mail box!), then please contact us again.

Opening hours are normally Mon-Sat 10-5 & 2-5 on Sundays but during February they will be 11-5 and 2-5 respectively.
There is quite a bit of snow about, so it might be wise to ring first before making a special trip.

If you are in the area and feel like popping in, you will be very welcome. You'll find a map on the Find Us page

Workshops

The 2009 programme is now complete and we are thinking about next year. Please let us know if there is something you would particularly like. We can't promise but will do our best to respond to requests.

NEW! Want to learn how to knit or move on from scarves and stocking stitch? We are now running small group workshops for beginner and improver knitters and crocheters. We also have classes for those amongst you who would like to learn to spin or improve your technique. These are arranged on a by request basis. Please contact us if you are interested. The cost is £5 per hour for a minimum of 3 hours.
